13 September 2026
Back to school, back to racing! This week the races have been thick and fast, and the results no less furious! Read on to hear about the Kent County Relay Champs, the British Masters Outdoor Champs, our very own Late Summer Meet, and a whole host of half marathons and marathons.
If you’re getting the itch to race too, be sure to save the dates for the upcoming cross country season, where every vest will count! Dates can be found in the Event Calendar section below.
As always, please do share your stories, photos, results and news with us so we can share your successes with the whole club. Your editors love to hear from you, and so do your club mates!
RESULTS ROUND UP
Autumn is well and truly upon us and with it a busy season of races! Heat training during the long summer has clearly paid off for everyone racing this weekend right across the country and indeed Europe!
Some highlights and congratulations go to…
Rob Harvey – 1:31:15 at the Northampton Half, including running up a flight of stairs!
Roger Beardsworth – 1:31:04 at the Chippenham Half, coming 1st VM60
Mark Crabtree – 2:52:35 at the Richmond Marathon
Nicola Papalini – 3:50:34 at the Vilnius Marathon
Alex Morales Frost – 1:29:49 at the Basildon Half
The Great North Run saw a strong contingent of south Londoners:
Ben Cook – 77:25
Rich Giles – 83:14
John Gilchrist – 88:16
Alec Lauder – 93:48
Rebecca Palser (pictured below) – 2nd female at the Robin Hood 100
This weekend saw the British Masters Outdoor Championships in Derby. A huge well done to Emily Murray (pictured below) for winning the VW45 long jump with 4.89m, which is not only a PB but also a new Scottish record! She also won gold in the triple jump in 9.69m! This adds to Emily’s incredible success and string of records, having also broken the VW45 Scottish record for the triple jump with 9.98m earlier this season in Loughborough!
The golds continued, with Lin Skinner winning gold in the VW50 1500m race! Amazing!
KENT AC AT THE KENT COUNTY RELAY CHAMPIONSHIPS!
Two Kent AC teams took on the competition this weekend at the Kent County Relay Championships in Ashford, competing in both the 4x100m and 4x200m races.
Both teams showed fantastic determination, teamwork and team spirit, battling through some fierce competition to secure their places in the 4x200m finals. The U16 girls finished an impressive 5th, with the U14 boys taking 4th place.
U16 Girls:
Zoe Folarin, Lily O’Gorman, Shekinah-Glory Acheampong and Amalya Hunte
U14 Boys:
Vwede Fydoro-Otiki, Matthew Egling, Zac Murray and Otis Atlee
Every athlete gave their all and represented Kent AC brilliantly. It was fantastic to see them supporting and encouraging each other throughout the day — a real display of teamwork and team spirit.
A huge thank you to Coach Juno Field for all the relay practice and for coming to Ashford to support the teams on the day. Your time and encouragement are hugely appreciated!
And apologies that we only have a photo of the boys this time — we’ll make sure to get a girls’ team photo next time!
A LATE SUMMER IS A GREAT SUMMER
Thursday night saw the Late Summer Meet down at the Alex Yee Ladywell Arena. First and most importantly, a huge thank you and well done to everyone involved in organising and volunteering to make the event such a success! These club events literally would not happen without you!
