Whilst many of us were working on our tan this weekend and enjoying the summer solstice, new member Sarah Perry took on a 10-miler at Lee Valley Velo Park, finishing in 1:39:37.
Gian Valentini and Jo Wint, meanwhile, decided 33 degrees was the perfect temperature for a spot of ultramarathoning.
Gian crossed the border to race the Ultra Wales 50, which he completed in 13:29:59. Whilst back in extremely humid London, Jo ran the Beyond London Ultra 55km with a finish time of 9:34:44. Simply astonishing feats in Saturday’s heat.
Our next post-track social will take place on 1st July, closely followed by the Assembly League in Sutcliffe Park on 3rd July. Mark the dates in your diary!
Also, make sure to sign up to the Ron Hale Open on 26th July. After a successful launch last year, the event returns next month, so don’t miss out.
Read on for a Dulwich Relays report from Team Captain, Jake Simmonds.
On Wednesday, 18th June, 39 Kent AC athletes proudly represented the iconic blue vest for the 2025 edition of the Dulwich Relays — an event the club has dominated over the past three years, and this year was no different.
Leading off for the men’s team was Jo Vis, with Molly O’Connor fresh off a Southern Athletics League 800m win opening for the women, and 5K specialist Claire Oxlade setting the pace for the mixed team. With Herne Hill establishing an early lead, Jo found himself in a fierce battle with Petts Wood, Dulwich, and South London Harriers. But true to form, he unleashed a strong kick in the final 500m, pulling away to hand over in 2nd place. Molly delivered a composed and impressive leg for the women’s team, believed to be the 2nd fastest female on the first leg (awaiting confirmation). Claire followed up with a strong performance, keeping the mixed team in the hunt. Great opening efforts also came from Gen Blanch, Sally Urquhart, and Suze Spalding across various teams.
Next up for the men was 14:37 5K runner Joe English. Known for his confidence and speed, Joe didn’t disappoint producing what is believed to be the fastest male leg of the day. He surged past Herne Hill early on and handed over to Calum Fraser with a 10-second lead. Strong runs were also delivered by Ben Hope, Chris Schofield, Raymond Tedders, Robbie Smith, Kieran Fitzpatrick, Michael Gibson, and Tim Church. For the women, 16:32 runner Katie Good powered through her leg, overtaking rivals to place the team in the gold medal position. Ian Ellwood ran a gritty second leg for the mixed team, keeping them firmly inside the top 5. Amy White, Anna Delis, and Rebecca Palser also held their ground with solid efforts on leg 2.
Glowing golden girls The final leg was all about securing medals — and our teams delivered. Alexa Parker, an 800/1500m specialist, closed out for the women and may well have clocked the fastest female leg of the day. Her performance sealed a fourth consecutive title for the Kent AC women. Huge congratulations to Molly, Katie, and Alexa on another dominant team effort. On the men’s side, Calum Fraser kept his cool and brought it home, cementing a third title in four years for the Kent AC men. A big well done to Jo, Joe, and Calum for a brilliant collective effort. Ellie Freeden stormed through the final leg for the mixed team, finishing strong — and with final results pending, there’s a chance the team could edge into the top three. Excellent work also from Jonathan Beatty, Steven Mowll, Samuel Wilcock, Victoria Cartwright, Jo Wint, and Jo Cartledge who all closed out their respective teams on leg 3.
The speedy trio
